Back to Our Roots in Cowboy Boots at the Sonoma County Fair

SANTA ROSA, Calif. –  March 19, 2019 – The Sonoma County Fair invites everyone to slip on a pair of cowboy boots and gallop into a western world of fun this August 1-11 for the 2019 Sonoma County Fair’s, “Back to Our Roots in Cowboy Boots.”

“The 2019 Sonoma County Fair has all the makings for a fabulous 11 day festival; terrific entertainment for young and old, delectable food, a thrill packed carnival and shopping, shopping, shopping,” says Fair CEO, Becky Bartling. “And best of all a terrific new theme; ‘Back to our Roots in Cowboy Boots.’  All the ingredients for cookin’ up a good ol’ time at the Fair.”

We are definitely connecting with our “Roots” this season.  We reached out to our fantastic community to help us create our slogan in the 2019 Fair Slogan contest.  We were inspired by the almost 2,000 entries!  We thank our community and our winners for their creative submissions for our 2019 Fair slogan.

In addition to our western fun, fairgoers will find all their Fair favorites are back. Free concerts every night on the Community Stage, tasty fair food and our exciting carnival presented by Butler Amusements are just the beginning.

“This year’s Fair will be an exciting one – bringing our community back to our roots with a focus on our western and agricultural heritage,” says Fair Board President Rob Muelrath. “The Board of Directors are working hard to make the 2019 Fair a memorable one and we look forward to more exciting announcements in the coming weeks.”

The Fairgrounds will be transformed into our own version of the “Wild West” beginning with the beloved Hall of Flowers exhibit. The 2019 Hall of Flowers theme will be a “Country Garden of Songs.” Each garden will highlight a country song featuring a different flower. From “San Antonio Rose” to “The Orange Blossom Special” the gardens will have their own floral and musical identity.  Visitors should expect beautiful water features, and even a saloon where you can ‘wet your whistle’.

On the racetrack, Wine Country Racing returns with 8 days of live horse racing. Racing is free with Fair admission. VIP seating, reserved boxes and trackside tables are on sale beginning April 27.

Pre-sale tickets for the Fair go on sale Saturday, April 27.  The Sonoma County Fair Box Office will open April 27 at 9 am for pre-sale tickets. Online tickets will be available at noon on April 27 at SonomaCountyFair.com. The Box Office will be open Monday through Friday 9 am to 6 pm through July 31 at the Fair Administration Office.

Do you want to join in on the fun at the Fair?  The Fair team will be hiring for the 2019 Fair!  Applications will be available April 29th; you can go to sonomacountyfair.com/fair/jobs-volunteers.php for more information.  Come join our team and become a “Deputy of Fun”!
